Thanksgiving

Yes, I did get to celebrate Thanksgiving in Scotland. No, the rest of the country didn't celebrate with me. However it was still super fantastic! And, I used good British double cream in my mashed potatoes. Yum!

The mashed potatoes and green bean casserole I brought to Thanksgiving dinner. Just doin' my part :0)

Oh Yeah...All the fixings

I had Thanksgivng dinner with my fellow missionaries, along with two other American ladies and their Scottish husbands. We celebrated at Joe and Jayne's house (not pictured). From left to right: Lara, Bruce, Gary, Jessica, Rob, and Sarah.

Surprise Bday Party
One of the girls in my Home Group, Jo, turned 23 last Wednesday. So all the Home Groups got together at the church and threw her a surprise bday party. She's never had a proper birthday party before! It was really fun and she felt really special. And the cake was delicious, which is the most important part.

The birthday girl and I.

Ross, Blessing, and Joe Zickafoose partying down. The fabulous decorations are my handiwork ;0)

Tearfund
Friday, 01 December was World AIDS day. A few of the churches in town put on a fundraiser to raise support for a Christian charity called Tearfund. Four bands played at a local club and everyone who came donated money. 100% of the proceeds went to provide the medicine and vaccines needed to prevent the transmission of AIDS from pregnant mothers to their children in 3rd world countries.

The fundraiser was held in a club downtown called The Tunnels. After I got there I realized why....because it's literally in a tunnel.

News Flash: I'm a dork (some of you already knew this). The music was SO loud, I thought my eyeballs might pop out of my head. To prevent this, I put in my iPod earphones. No, they weren't attached to my iPod, but it did help to mute the sound a little.

This was the last band that played and the only one that was Christian. They were really great. I even took out my earphones! The goal that night was to raise 700 pounds for Tearfund, therefore saving the lives of 100 children. By the end of the night, over 940 pounds had been raised!

O Christmas Tree...

Last night my roommate and I set up our Christmas tree. Yay!! I was so much in the Christmas spirit that I even went a little overboard and wrapped up all the empty boxes I could find around the house. The result: pseudo-presents.

Our only other Christmas decoration. Aww.....

Thankgiving looked delicious - I got hungry again even though I just had dinner. Thanks a lot! (sarcasm)
Great Christmas and party decorations - you have a gift with creating environments.
That Tunnel club was sickkkkkkkkk.
Glad you're still able to bring a bit of America to that place that's senselessly far away. :o)
That food looked good. Now I want Thanksgiving dinner again... sigh.
Good wisdom on the iPlugs. I'm sure if your ears could find a way to thank you, they would. =)
